In Ireland children are often protected for the right reasons. The world is now full of offline and online terror and having a small innocent child subjected to the ills and evils of the world is unthinkable. However , are there times when too much attention and care can hamper a child or young person`s development ? When is the time to let a youth become the judge of what danger is to them?
As parents and guardians it is natural to apply the safety first rule of thumb. But, weren`t children born to be free and live life openly and gleefully? A recent experience in several schools has illustrated how things can be mistaken and how us adults need to constantly reframe our thinking around child safety and awareness.
