What is the top self development book for you? One of Amazon’s bestsellers in 2019 has been StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Ross. This book was actually written in 2007. Tom Ross is an author and researcher.  He spent two decades studying how human health and well-being can be improved. Not only did he write this particular book, but also nine other books. He’s had excess sales of ten million copies, and with that, he’s made global appearances all around the world. His first book was called How Full is Your Bucket. Tom is talking about how full or helpful parts of your life are.powerful are. This was an instant number one New York Times bestseller and triggered a series of books.

StrengthsFinder 2.0 was the non-fiction top seller of all time on Amazon. Twelve years after the book being released, it was still in the top 45 books. Tom also had a best-seller which includes strengths based leadership, and things like eat, move, sleep and well-being. For 13 years, Tom was a leader of programs and he also developed StrengthsFinder. This has helped over 20 million people to actually uncover talents that they never really knew were there. This went on to become a major thing. StrengthsFinder 2.0 builds on this type of program, and these practices were adopted world wide.

Tom became a senior scientist with Gallop and then vice chair of the VHL career research organization. He’s also been a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and co-founded a publishing company. After his success with books, he became an adviser investor and also

had huge success with several startups. He had degrees from the Universityof Michigan and of course the University of Pennsylvania where he lectured.

StrengthsFinder 2.0 comes from his strengths. One of them is leadership. The book asks a major question: Do you have the opportunity to do what you best do every day? What is it that you do best? Does everybody work in the job that they’re best skilled at? Too often, our natural talents are not harnessed, and from there, the author Tom Ross is looking at how we should devote more time to looking at our shortcomings and developing our strengths. We’re often looking at trying to develop and balance ourselves, but if we look at our strengths or modes, we can uncover our talents. Everybody has a talent. Gallup introduced the first version of a particular online assessment way back in 2001 to assess strengths. Millions upon millions actually did this type of assessment and with that, they became successful themselves within themselves. They found their strengths.

StrengthsFinder 2.0 talks about the top five talents a person could harness from themselves. The company unveiled a new and improved even version of this popular type of assessment. If you use this book and the test as a reference, there are hundreds of strategies for applying and putting into practice the strengths that people find within themselves. Essentially, this book is looking at changing a person. Number one is to focus on our talents. Often we are looking at our weaknesses, but this book tells us differently. Forget your weakness for a minute let’s just land look at your talents.

Secondly, he talks about finding partners with complementary strengths. He talked about sexual partners, but also about people that perhaps you could match with regarding business or any type of interest you have.

Lastly, he says talent becomes strengths, so focus on talents if you aren’t sure of your strenghts. StrengthsFinder 2.0 is a good book that has lasted the test of time.
